Background

• Like most other groups all young people are not the same, they have different socio-economic, education and health care needs.
  
  
•  Children and young people can also be affected by ageism. 
  
  
• Young people need to be seen as citizens in their own right.

   

Young People:

•  Are our future investment and will become our future fathers, mothers carers, and with time will participate in the full gamut of social, political and economic life of Northern Ireland. 
   
•  Want to be treated with dignity and respect. 
   
•   Want and have the right to be given access to information to enable them to make informed choices about their health, their education and careers. 
  
  
•  Want to be given the opportunity to reach their potential. 
  
  
•  Have the right to be taken seriously.
