How to contact a Doctor (G.P.General Practitioner) during Surgery Hours:

Your GP is often the first point of contact who will help you access other health and social services.

  • Phone the Surgery that you are registered with and ask the receptionist for an appointment.

  • If you are too ill to attend a house call may be requested. If you are requesting a house please phone as early as possible in the morning.

  • Health Centres operate usually between the hours of 8.30am and 6.00pm Monday until Friday and provide a range of services.

  • These services are outlined in a leaflet, which is given to patients when they register.

  • It is useful to read this leaflet as it provides a list of services.

  • There is no charge for attending the GP. (subject to entitlement status).

  • It you require further treatment or services you may be referred to other health service professionals eg. Physiotherapist or social worker, or for further specialist treatment.

  • If the GP gives you a prescription for medicine, tablets etc this should be taken to a pharmacist/chemist who will give you the medicine, tablets etc.

  • Children and older people do not usually have to pay for the medicine, however, other people may be charged.
