Special Days

Bahá'ís have no clergy. They pray each day, observe 9 major holy days and fast for 19 days every year. They regard their work as a form of worship and are dedicated to the abolition of prejudice.

Ridván

For members of the Bahá'í faith Ridván, which begins on April 21 and lasts for 12 days, is the most sacred and important of their festivals. It recalls the time in 1863 when Bahá'u'lláh spent 12 days in the Ridván Garden near Baghdad and announced to his followers that he was the 'Promised One' of all religions.

Other special days in the Bahá'í Faith include:

Feast of Naw-Ruz (Bahá'í New Year)
March 21
Declaration of the Báb
May 23
Martyrdom of the Báb
July 9
Birth of the Báb
October 20
Birth of Bahá'u'lláh
November 12
