My Story

 'In Religious Education they do explain Islam, but they don't do details'
 
'Our children here feel differently about their religion, because it's not spoken about openly. This is why we need equality from the start'
 
'I was pleased they were doing something about Hong Kong…..But they didn't do any other cultures, and there were kids from other ethnic minorities in the school'
 
'And then they'll ask you are you a Muslim - English or Irish. I just turn around and say, neither because I'm a Muslim…they just say Catholic or Protestant? They just can't take it in.'

'Dealing with difference is difficult in any society, but it is an even greater challenge in Northern Ireland which has been so identified with division.'
