Sports unite against sectarianism

GAA and Irish League footballers and supporters will unite against sectarianism and racism during this weekend's games.

A unite against hate anthem recorded by singer Peter Corry will be played and wristbands distributed to supporters at all grounds.

Mr Corry covered Michael Jackson hit Man In The Mirror and presenter Tim McGarry provides the campaign call.

Ulster GAA president Tom Daly said: "The GAA is an anti-sectarian and anti-racist organisation who believes in promoting respect while celebrating diversity, as such the association fully endorses the unite against hate campaign."

The campaign will highlight homophobia, racism, sectarianism, phobia towards transsexuals and prejudices based around a person's faith or disability.

Irish Football Association (IFA) chief executive Patrick Nelson said: "We believe sport can play a meaningful role in the promotion of good relations."
